Academic Team

 The Academic team is very similar to Quest or debate teams, except that rather for being for a certain subject or representing the entire school, the team also represents JROTC and is allowed to participate in Air force competitions that other teams may not be able to partake in. This year when we meet, we will focus on problem-solving skills, teambuilding and current events, rather than just answer a group of questions at every practice. We will be using the 'Zero Hour Threat' quiz game on the computer, the software that the Air Force uses for their annual competition, except not as often as in previous years.

 This year the Academic Team is participating in several competitions that it has never participated in before. Some of these new competitions are the Mandelbrot competition, The Knowledge Master Open, and the 9-week long Quiz Bowl. Each year the team also partakes in the Air Force ACademic Competition. Many of these competitions allow video-taping and photographing, so Look forward to seeing pictures and videos to share with parents and team members.  Subjects covered by the academic team range from the basics like Math, various forms of Science, and English, to more complicated subjects such as Government, Economics, and Health/Psychology. Recent events is also a very prominent topic; members are strongly encouraged to find some way of studying current events at home.
