Major Bill Clark
Master Sergeant George F. Winkle is an Aerospace Science Instructor. He was born in Charleston, SC and attended North Charleston High School. He is married to the former Yarboro J. Barnette. He was assigned to Hurlburt Field, Florida in 1971, where he became a certified Security Policeman. Between June of 1980 and June 1987, Sergeant Winkle was Non-commissioned Officer (NCOIC) of Security Police Investigations at Charleston AFB, SC. In 1984, he graduated with honors and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Southern Illinois. In 1987 he became the Superintendent of Law Enforcement Operations at Bitburg, Germany where he was selected as Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the year. In 1989, Sergeant Winkle graduated from the Air Force’s premier Command Course of Air Base Ground Defense at Lackland AFB, Texas. Upon his return to Germany, he was appointed Superintendent, Standardization and Evaluation. He served as the Wing’s Team Chief for security combat forces on the Wing Inspection Team. In 1992, Sergeant Winkle was again selected as Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the year at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. Additionally, he was nominated for the 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year Award in the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer category. In 1993 Sergeant Winkle received a Certificate of Commendation as a team member of the Air Force’s Chemical Weapons Convention Treaty Working Group for his outstanding contribution in the destruction of Chemical Weapons. He returned to Charleston, SC in November 1993. He began his tour as an Aerospace Science Instructor at R.B. Stall High School during the 1994 – 1995 school year where he served for six years as an instructor. In 1996 he was selected as an Outstanding Aerospace Science Instructor. In 2000 he joined the AFJROTC Staff at Fort Dorchester High School and received an “Outstanding Instructor Award” for 2007. In 2008 Ashley Ridge opened it's doors for the first time and a new unit was born, SC-20081. During it's inaugural year, SC-20081 was selected as a distinguished unit and Sergeant was again selected as an outstanding instructor for the 2008 - 2009 school year. His awards and decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Joint Services Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Outstanding Unit Award with three oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with one device, Korean Expeditionary Medal, and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon with one device for multiple weapons. 

  Major Bill Clark is the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor (SASI). He is from Chagrin Falls, Ohio graduating from UniversitySchool in 1972 and The Citadel in 1976 with a degree in history and a minor in business. He is married to former 
Lynn Seyle. They have two sons. After graduation, Major Clark completed Nuclear ICBM Operations training at Vandenberg AFB. CA. He served as an ICBM Operations Deputy Commander, Mission Commander, and Instructor at Grand Forks AFB, ND. From 1981-1984, he served as an Airborne Battle Staff Mission Commander and Instructor on EC-135 Command & Control aircraft at Ellsworth AFB, SD. Major Clark was reassigned in 1984 as a Test Director and Chief, Airborne Communications & Missile Launch Test Branch, Air Force Operational Test Center, Vandenburg AFB, CA. In 1992, he served as Director of the 7th Air Force, Operations & MaintenanceCenter, OsanAB, and ROK. Major Clark was reassigned to Charleston AFB, in 1993 and served as Chief, Operations, Command Post; Chief, Operations Branch, Squadron Plans; and Chief, Quality Support Branch. Major Clark has completed various Air Force schools to include Squadron OfficerSchool, MarineCommand & StaffSchool, and AirCommand & StaffCollege. In addition, he has completed his Masters in Teaching/Social Studies from the Citadel. His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, Organizational Excellence Award, Combat Readiness Medal, and others. He has been awarded the “AFJROTC Outstanding Instructor Award “four times.Upon retiring from the Air Force, Major Clark worked as an AFJROTC instructor at Fort Dorchester High School. He also had many additional duties, most notably as the unit finance officer and operations officer.
