LEADERSHIP STARTS HERE

Mission Statement
The Air Force JROTC Mission is to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship, promote community service, personal responsibility, character, self-discipline, and provide instruction in leadership and in aerospace science.

Air Force JROTC is not about recruiting students into the military, but is preparing cadets for after high school and being better citizens. A majority of cadets do not go into the military but go on to college or technical school and lead productive lives.

Air Force JROTC does offer the opportunity to cadets to go into the military:

 1. Cadets can go in at a higher promotion grade as enlisted vs non-JROTC students. The advantages are increased pay and earlier promotion opportunities, if qualified.

2. AFJROTC scholarships can offer up to $15000 a year to defray college costs.

3. Nominations to the Air Force Academy

The AFJROTC Program at Ashley Ridge High School is a four year program. As each grade is added on each year, the AFJROTC program will also add on. This year, cadets entering the program for the first time will be classified as first year cadets, whether the student is a freshman or sophomore. Returning cadets will be classified as 2nd years.

A special Leadership class will be offered this to year selected 2nd year cadets. This course will include the study of aerodynamics, aircraft modeling, remote aircraft flying, advanced drill and advanced leadership training with practicum. In addition, each cadet in this class will receive a incentive aircraft ride through our partnership with the Civil Air Patrol. This class will also be issued BDUs to wear for limited survival training.

Cadets who complete one of year of AFJROTC will receive one credit of PE as approved by the SC Department of Education.

Each AFJROTC unit offers a wide range of activities that cadets may participate in as shown below: Since this is a newly formed unit, the unit, at the present time, does not have the resources to support all activities as listed. Activities will be added as the unit grows.
